Fundamental X launched XBRL to XL in January 2012 in response to a requirement to get comparative XBRL financials into Excel for rapid analysis. XBRL to XL won the XBRL Challenge in 2013 and was a finalist in 2012.

The Fundamental X data extraction toolkit was launched in 2008 and is designed to speed up the identification, extraction, and verification of key data. The tools are built on the X Layer which re-models a document to incorporate extra levels of structure, providing quicker access to what’s fundamental to you.
Originally designed for the Financial Services sector, it allows Financial Analysts who require the original source, to benefit from faster modelling of financial data and Data Vendors to accurately extract high volumes of data more quickly from source documents.
Fundamental X was set up by Jim Truscott in 2000.
